Arduino Interface Card Datasheet

Materials:

- Arduino Mega 2560 PRO MINI

- PCB

- 2x DM13A LED driver (DIP24)

- 2x 5kOhm resistors

- 2x 100nF capacitors

- 1x 2.54mm 2pin screw terminal

Build Instructions


Solder all components to their correct spots as marked in the PCBs silkscreen.
R1 and R2 resistor values: 5kOhm

C1 and C2 capacitor values: 100nF

Potentiometer positions:

You can either solder a potentiometer (5k-100kOhm) to the designated RV1-2 spots or connect a resistor of similar value between GND and REXT.

RC Filters and Analog Signals


This PCB is equipped with RC Filter reservation. If you didn't order the RC Filters to be placed by us, you will notice the empty slots next to the micro controller. To enable Analog signal pass through you need to short the resistor pads (R) with a regular wire. DO NOT short the capacitor pads as this will cause a short to ground.

If you wish to add your own RC filters after the fact you have to just populate the missing components to their designated spots.

ICSP


If you wish to access the ICSP pins you may do so by using the connector placed above the Arduino Mega PRO MINI board. ICSP isn't connected to the main PCB since it is rarely used.


If you are wiring the PCB yourself, remember to not solder ICSP connectors to the Arduino bottom side.


DM13A Shift Registers


This board features two built-in DM13A shift registers for output.

You can access shift register Rext pins from the PCBs designated 3pin connector spots.

If you are using the shift register as a LED driver you can adjust the brightness from Rext by wiring a resistive load between it and ground. Adjustable brightness it achieved by wiring a potentiometer to the connector (no polarity).

NEVER USE ZERO RESISTIVE LOAD BETWEEN Rext AND GND!


The pins for the shift registers are:

LED1 (L0-L15): Data=48, Clock=49, Latch=50

LED2 (L0-L15): Data=51, Clock=52, Latch=53

Power IO


The PCB has a 3pin screw terminal for power input connections. The connector is marked with label "IN" and has a GND and 12V connections. The third pin is used as RESET pin.

If you want to receive power from the Arduino, you can use the screw terminals marked with label OUT. The labels also specify which voltage/gnd terminals are which. PWR OUT: 5V, 3V3 and GND.

We recommend using an external power supply independent from the Arduino for high load applications.
